Removing Rubbing Noise of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions Based on Wavelet Transform

چکیده

Oracle-bone inscriptions are pioneer mature characters in China, named as china archaic “record-base”. Because oracle-bone was not smoothness, and went through thousands years, its damage is very grievous, many spots covered up pristine inscriptions. In the paper we analyse the characteristic of rubbings and try wavelet transform for removing noise of different defective rubbings of oracle-bone, and the experimental results show that our method can farthest reserve the characters information. Wavelet transform can denoise rubbing images of oracle-bone inscriptions of different quality, restrain noise in the image availably and the quality of output images is better than conventional smooth filter, it is able to keep character information in original images. The work of this paper is an important part of the computer automatic recognition of oracle-bone inscriptions and its digital development.
